Ratan Tata

Early Life and Education

Ratan Tata was born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, India. He is a member of the prominent Tata family, known for establishing one of India’s largest business empires.

He completed his schooling in Mumbai and later pursued architecture and structural engineering at Cornell University in the United States. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Ratan Tata joined the Tata Group in 1962 and initially worked on the shop floor of Tata Steel. In 1991, he succeeded J.R.D. Tata as the chairman of the Tata Group.

Under his leadership, the group expanded globally through major acquisitions, including:
